The benefits of training during pregnancy

At FFS we’ve worked with many prenatal clients in classes and through personal training.

When beginning a family, you want to be at your healthiest and FFS is proud to help.

Moderate physical exercise has been shown to be beneficial for both mother and baby. Consistent exercise at FFS has been described as invaluable by our clients when returning to the gym following pregnancy.

Once your doctor gives the nod, we recommend moderate exercise to help:

  • Control weight gain
  • Reduce risk of high blood pressure, hypertension and pre-eclampsia
  • Reduce risk of gestational diabetes
  • Improve mood and quality of sleep
  • Prepare for childbirth
  • Postpartum recovery

Small Group Training for Pregnancy

Open to both FFS members and the general public, these classes feature:

  • Total body strength work which is safe and beneficial during pregnancy, with a focus on areas which come under most stress, such as pelvic floor and low back.
  • Aerobic workouts at a suitable intensity

Our small group pregnancy training runs in six week blocks at FFS Leeson Street and FFS Ivy Exchange. Our coaches for these classes are qualified in Modern Pregnancy Exercise and Wellness.

This training is suitable for all fitness levels. Whether you're already active or not, get in touch with Aoife as early as possible to discuss the best time to join the group.

Postnatal Small Group Training

Our postnatal training focuses on providing a safe and steady return to exercise following pregnancy.

The physical demands of pregnancy can affect posture and breathing patterns. It also puts extra strain on the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles. With qualifications in Modern Postnatal Exercise and Wellness, our coaches for these classes are here to help you successfully return to regular exercise.

Our postnatal group training runs in six week blocks at FFS Leeson Street and FFS Ivy Exchange.

Personal Training

Pregnancy & Postnatal 1:1 Personal Training

Personal Training is also available if you'd prefer to work 1:1 with a coach.
Aoife is qualified in Modern Pregnancy & Postnatal Exercise and Wellness. During pregnancy, the focus is on resistance training and aerobic work which is safe and beneficial during pregnancy. Following pregnancy, they provide a gradual return to exercise specifically for you.
Prenatal & Postnatal 1:1 Personal Training is suitable for all fitness levels - we'll tailor it to your experience and ability to help you feel good during pregnancy and achieve your postnatal goals.

Training for Current Members

At FFS, we cater our training to suit all members and fitness levels - this even extends to pregnancy. Our coaches will provide guidance and alternative exercises to suit whatever stage of pregnancy you’re at.

Please let our team know as soon as possible. We promise privacy and discretion.

You will then have a 1:1 session to discuss your training, exercise adjustments and any requirements specific to your pregnancy. 

We also offer a 6-12 week pause on memberships in advance of and following childbirth and an individual consultation when you return to the gym.
